Chicago Sky forward Dijonai Carrington has marked their next game against the Indiana Fever on her calendar.
The game between Chicago and Indiana on Saturday became an intense and heated matchup inside United Center.
Carrington’s hard foul on Sophie Cunningham in the opening quarter became the peak of this fierce battle, after she hit her across the face when the Fever guard went up for the layup.
This quickly escalated the physicality and drama, which set the tone of the game.
Carrington was slapped with a Flagrant Foul 2 call and was ejected from the game. But the Sky guard expressed her readiness to face the Fever again in an X post.
The former Baylor star posted a date with a smile, which marks their next scheduled game against Indiana.
“8/23 😁,” she wrote.
The Sky ultimately absorbed a 90-86 defeat at the hands of the Fever, which was their 20th loss of the regular season.
Carrington is coming off an injury, which sidelined her in the first 27 games of the campaign. She made her season debut on July 30 against the Connecticut Sun.
She’s currently averaging 10.3 points, 2.2 rebounds, 0.4 assists and 0.2 steals in four games. In six seasons in the league, Carrington won the 2024 Most Improved Player award and was part of the All-Defensive First Team in the same season.
The Fever, on the other hand, improved to 20-12 after Saturday's win. Knowing Cunningham, she, too, will be looking forward to facing Carrington and the Sky on Aug. 23.
