The Arizona Diamondbacks have leaned heavily on Corbin Carroll early in the 2026 season as the franchise navigates a mediocre start to the year.
The Diamondbacks enter Thursday's game against the New York Mets with a 6-6 record and still have to win more than two consecutive games this season, with 12 in the rearview mirror.
Carroll has been central to Arizona's winning efforts and offensive production, posting the best OPS (1.099) among Diamondbacks players starting games regularly this season.
The right-fielder entered the year with questions following a shortened spring training caused by hamate surgery, but through the first two weeks of play, Carroll is batting .333 (14-for-42) with three doubles, three triples, and two home runs for 11 RBIs.

Back on Wednesday’s win over the Mets, Carroll delivered three extra-base hits, including two doubles and a triple, in his 500th career game.
Despite that, Carroll is not in the lineup for Thursday’s series finale at Citi Field. The decision, however, is not injury-related, and it marks his first day off of the season.
Jorge Barrosa is taking over in right field and batting ninth, with a season slash-line of .211/.250/.421 in six games and 21 plate appearances.
The move looks like a routine rest day early in the season and is likely tied to Carroll's limited spring preparation.
Arizona is looking to secure the rubber match of the series after evening it with Wednesday’s 7-2 victory, which will move them above .500 for the first time this season.
Diamondbacks and Mets face each other on Thursday evening, with the first pitch scheduled for 7:10 p.m.
