The Atlanta Dream moved on to the semifinals of the WNBA playoffs by eliminating the Washington Mystics in Game 2 of their first-round series. However, what has caught the attention of many from the game was Angel Reese and Allisha Gray’s antics after the victory.
Gray took care of business by leading her team with 22 points, three assists and four steals in Atlanta’s 93-75 win. Meanwhile, Reese contributed 15 points, seven rebounds, two assists and three blocks.
Before the buzzer sounded, Reese and Gray raised their hands to wave goodbye at their opponents and the Washington supporters at CareFirst Arena. This was where DeWanna Bonner’s veteran leadership came in.

As soon as the two stars made their gesture toward the Mystics, Bonner stepped in and pulled their hands down to avoid provoking the Washington fans. She proceeded to hold the hands of Reese and Gray as they walked on the court.
Fans were quick to heap praise on Bonner for how she handled the situation. Many noted that it was the right move since the Dream have yet to get the job done.
“Smart vet move because DB knows ATL has a long way to go if they want to win the 2026 Championship. The next round ain’t no walk in the park,” a commenter wrote. Another one said, “I’m starting to like Bonner more and more. Auntie wasn’t playing with them.”
A fan added, “That’s why these teams need vets. That vet leadership is showing. DB is a good fit for the Dream.”
“That was a classic vet move to teach the up and comers,” a supporter shared.
Another social media user noted, “I LOVE DAWANNA FOR THIS MOMENT. THE WAY SHE KEEPS THESE WOMEN HUMBLE.”
