DeWanna Bonner reached a buyout with the Phoenix Mercury on Aug. 24 and signed with the Atlanta Dream as a free agent three days later. She joined a contender in pursuit of another championship in what could be her final season.
Bonner, now in her 17th year in the league, recently made a career decision. Range Sports and Bonner announced via a joint Instagram post on Wednesday that she had signed with the company for representation. The prominent sports agency proudly welcomed her in the caption.
“We’re thrilled to welcome WNBA Icon and two-time WNBA Champion @dewannabonner to the Range Sports family! 🏀,” Range Sports wrote.
“Over 17 seasons, DeWanna has built one of the most accomplished careers in WNBA history. A six-time All-Star, two-time WNBA champion, and three-time Sixth Player of the Year, she has been a force in the league for nearly two decades and continues to make an impact with the Atlanta Dream.
“Off the court, DeWanna has become just as recognizable for her style and personality, from turning heads on WNBA game days to letting fans into her world through this season’s “Life of the W.” We’re proud to represent DeWanna and excited to be part of what’s next!”
According to its LinkedIn profile, Range Sports is a “representation, marketing and production company built for the modern era.” It is a division of Range Media Partners, which was founded in 2020. The company is based in Santa Monica, California.
Bonner helped the Dream advance to the second round after defeating the No. 5-seeded Washington Mystics, 93-75, on Wednesday. Atlanta completed a 2-0 sweep of Washington and will now advance to the semifinals.
Bonner scored seven points on two three-pointers and grabbed two rebounds in 14 minutes. All five Atlanta starters scored in double digits, led by Allisha Gray with 22 points and Jordin Canada with 19.
Next up, the Dream face the No. 8-seeded New York Liberty, which upset the No. 1-seeded Minnesota Lynx in the first round.
Bonner is expected to continue coming off the bench for head coach Karl Smesko. Although the two-time WNBA champion is now in the latter stages of her career, Bonner brings plenty of playoff experience to the Dream.
