Two-time WNBA champion DeWanna Bonner is back in the WNBA Finals. She has a chance to add a third and potentially final title to her resume.
The 17-year veteran joined the Atlanta Dream this season after reaching a buyout agreement with the Phoenix Mercury. She has been instrumental in helping the Dream reach the WNBA Finals for the fourth time in franchise history.
In the 2026 WNBA playoffs, Bonner is averaging 11.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.3 steals. The Dream have tied the Finals series against the Golden State Valkyries, 1-1, after winning Game 2 on Monday. She contributed nine points and four steals off the bench for Atlanta.
In what could be her final season, Bonner shared how her family and children have continued to support her throughout her career.
“My kids are great kids,” Bonner said. “They’re kind of patient. They understand what I do.
“Now that they’re older, they’re into it a little bit more. So they’re like, ‘Go, Mom! Go try to win the trophy, and we’ll be waiting for you when you get home.’”
Bonner also said that her kids are excited to see her win another WNBA championship.
“Of course, they haven’t witnessed it yet,” she continued. “So, hopefully, this go-around, this is it.”
The six-time WNBA All-Star missed the entire 2017 season because of pregnancy. In July 2017, she gave birth to twin daughters. Cali and Demi are now 9, but they weren’t around when Bonner won her two championships in 2009 and 2014.
Game 3 tips off Wednesday at State Farm Arena. Bonner and the Dream will look to carry the momentum and take a 2-1 series lead over the Valkyries.
