The Tennessee Titanshave had plenty of talented players in the past, including arguably the best running back in franchise history, Derrick Henry. Henry is now with the Ravens and is set for his third season with the franchise in 2026.
Ahead of the season, Henry would take an interview with Ups & Adams, which led to him being asked about retirement and nearly pressured into saying he would retire a Raven. Here is what he said.
Derrick Henry's Comment on the Interview
"What other place would it be better to retire than the castle," Henry said on the Up & Adams show. "When I am done playing I want to be done playing here (Baltimore Ravens). When I hang it up, Baltimore will be the last place that I want to be."
This comment would spark a frenzy online, as Titans' fans were quick to share their thoughts and how they felt about their former franchise running back allegedly telling Kay Adams that he wants to retire a Raven.
Derrick Henry Denies Retirement With the Ravens Accusations
While the video did indicate that this may be the case, Henry was quick to shut down the report, claiming that he will worry about his retirement later.
"I would like to finish my playing career with the Ravens. I never said anything about retiring lol, I’m enjoying being a Raven. I’ll worry about that retirement sh* later," Henry said.
Should Derrick Henry Retire With the Tennessee Titans?
In 2016, the Titans selected Derrick Henry in the second round of the NFL Draft. He was selected with the No. 45 pick in the draft just one year after he won the Heisman Trophy with the Alabama Crimson Tide.
Following the draft, Henry would spend the next eight seasons with the Titans, becoming one of the more memorable running backs in franchise history. He would join the likes of Chris Johnson, Eddie George, and Earl Campbell as long-time contributors.
This would mean that Henry has spent only two seasons with the Ravens, which is just a quarter of what he spent with the Titans. He is also on the decline in his career, despite having great production last season due to his age.
He will never reach a season total that compares to his time in Tennessee when it comes to Baltimore, which leaves no doubt in my mind that he should retire with the Titans, especially considering the running back finished with multiple 2,000-yard seasons. While his production in Baltimore is something to be proud of, his production in Tennessee will be what many remember him from.
