Derek Carr put together a noteworthy 11-year career in the NFL. Spending time with the Las Vegas Raiders (2014 to 2022) and New Orleans Saints (2023 and 2024), he made four Pro Bowl appearances. In total, he completed 3,765-of-5,785 passes for 41,245 yards, 257 touchdowns, 112 interceptions, and a 92.8 passer rating.
However, after he was limited to just 10 games during the 2024 season with the Saints, the former Fresno State Bulldog retired. His decision came despite having two more seasons left on a four-year, $150 million contract with New Orleans.
Now, at 35 years old, though, the signal-caller hasn't completely ruled out an NFL comeback.

Carr made a Friday appearance on "Good Morning Football," revealing that several NFL teams have reached out since he retired.
“I’ll never say never,” Carr said. “It would take a special situation. There was multiple teams that reached out to me this offseason, and I won't say who or how, but they reached out and were just gauging my interests on what I wanted to do and all those things.”
While there has been some interest in a return, Carr claimed that he won't return for just anyone, citing his desire to help a team win.
“I wanna win, and I wanna do all those things, and so, if I were to do it, it would have to be a special team, you know, that maybe lost someone or needed somebody, but even then it’s not guaranteed," he continued. "You know, I'm having too much fun hanging out with my wife, hanging out with my kids and trying to get good at golf."
One of the biggest questions on a potential return is whether or not Carr is fully healthy. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, a big piece to the quarterback's retirement was a degenerative rotator cuff injury.
He appears content with retirement for now, but Carr's latest comments do open the door for a return under the right circumstances. If a contender finds itself needing an experienced quarterback, then the four-time Pro Bowler may be an option.
