The Undertaker — who might have found a new side gig as WWE’s official Hall of Fame messenger — revealed Monday that Demolition will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2026.

A video posted to both Taker’s and WWE’s social channels shows him informing Ax and Smash of the news via FaceTime. In the short clip, the longtime duo is visibly grateful, taking in a moment that’s decades in the making.

For longtime fans, the announcement sparked immediate nostalgia.

Why Demolition Are Being Inducted in Hall of Fame

Demolition was one of WWE’s most dominant tag teams of the late 1980s and early 1990s. The core duo consisted of Ax (Bill Eadie) and Smash (Barry Darsow), later joined by Crush (Brian Adams).

With black leather outfits, spiked masks, and face paint, they looked like something out of a post-apocalyptic movie. Their presentation was intense, intimidating, and larger-than-life — exactly what WWE’s Golden Era thrived on.

In the ring, Demolition became three-time WWE Tag Team Champions and held the titles for a combined 698 days. Their first reign — 478 days — stood as a record for decades.

Their most famous rivalry came against the legendary The Road Warriors (also known in WWE as the Legion of Doom). The similarities in look and intensity fueled years of debate among fans, but there’s no question both teams helped define what powerhouse tag team wrestling looked like in that era.

Demolition also played roles at multiple WrestleManias, including a title victory at WrestleMania IV and a loss at WrestleMania VI against Andre the Giant and Haku — the latter now known to younger fans as the father of Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa.

For younger viewers, the easiest comparison might be this: imagine a team with the aura of The Judgment Day, the physical presence of a modern powerhouse duo, and the championship dominance to back it up. That was Demolition in their prime.

Their induction into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2026 is a recognition of a team that helped shape WWE’s tag team division during one of its most explosive growth periods.
