Before speaking to the media this Tuesday afternoon, Colorado football coach Deion Sanders offered his prayers to Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts.
Doctors discovered this Monday that Hurts has multiple blood clots in both of his lungs. As a result, he’s been ruled out for the remainder of the 2026 season. It’s a crushing blow to the Eagles, make no mistake. At the end of the day though, his long-term health is the main concern at this time.
Sanders, who has dealt with a similar issue, let the football world know that he’s keeping Hurts in his thoughts this week.
“First of all, let me address our guy from Philly, man…” Sanders said, via USA Today. “I know what he’s dealing with. I know what he’s going through, and I’m praying for him. I’m really, really praying for him. And I pray to God that it’s not what I think, it’s not what many of us think. But when we see it’s out for the season, when we see things like that, I’m just like, ‘Please, I pray to God that he’s not out for the rest of his career.'”

What’s the recovery timeline for Jalen Hurts?
Hurts’ agent, Nicole Lynn, confirmed that he’ll undergo treatment involving blood thinners for at least three months. The hope is that he’ll make a full recovery.
“Jalen’s prognosis is very good, and we expect a full recovery,” his agent and the Eagles said in a statement. “We anticipate that he will have the opportunity to resume contact football activities when off the blood thinners. In the meantime, he will remain active around the team and continue to condition. More importantly, we anticipate that he will have no long-term effects.”
Hopefully, Hurts will be back to 100 percent well before the start of the 2027 season.
