There was a time a little over a year ago where Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders was seen as a real candidate for an NFL head coach. But judging by some recent comments he made, that won't be happening anytime soon - even if he does turn things around.

Appearing on ESPN's First Take, Sanders was asked if there was "anything" that would get him to make the jump to NFL coaching. But he quickly dismissed the question, stating that after how things went with his son Shedeur in the NFL last season, there's "no way in the world" that he'd coach in the NFL.

"Not whatsoever. What transpired with my son last year? Ain't no way in the world," Sanders told Shae Cornette. "No."

Shutting it down

Some fans dismissively remarked that no NFL team would ever want to hire him in the first place, while others said that Sanders is probably better off staying in college.

"A team would actually have to want to hire him in the first place," one user responded.

"It's easy to shut down things you'll never actually get the opportunity to do," wrote another.

"Oh Boy! Should’ve known this was coming soon!"

Still others felt his remark about his son was confusing since Sheduer Sanders wound up being drafted in a spot where he probably deserved to go - not where Deion might have thought he belonged.

Despite his struggles at Colorado, there is still some reason to believe that he might succeed in the NFL where he can't succeed in college. His ability to motivate men of any age is considered unparalleled and the fact that he was able to turn Colorado into a nine-win team within two years of taking over the program is still something to be proud of.

But there is also a pretty good chance that if and when Sanders' time with the Buffaloes end, there won't be another coaching job on the horizon - whether that's by his choice or everyone else.
