Multiple members of Colorado’s football program were kicked off the team in the wake of Saturday’s blowout loss to Northwestern.
Colorado was crushed by Northwestern, 41-7, on Saturday. Deion Sanders expressed postgame that he was not happy with how some of his players reacted. Some of Colorado’s players were seen laughing and joking around after the loss.
“I don’t understand how in the world you can find joy, or you can find a laughing matter when I’m right behind you walking [into the locker room],” Sanders said Saturday. “I don’t understand that, and I addressed it, and I’m going to put my foot in it, not on it.”
On Tuesday, Deion Sanders announced that multiple members of the team had been dismissed for their conduct.

Deion Sanders announced that there’s “a few guys not on the team anymore” following the loss at Northwestern.
Colorado did not specify which players have been dismissed.
“It’s never one [thing],” Sanders said. “I’m one the most loving and giving and forgiving men you could ever meet, but when you start [having] conduct detrimental to the team, you don’t care about the team, you care about you, I have a problem with that. A year ago, I didn’t put my foot down in it enough. It lingered a little bit. Then, it imploded.
“I’m not doing that anymore.”
Buffaloes linebacker Tyler Martinez spoke out on the team’s dismissals.
Martinez said that the dismissals were unfortunate, while adding “but when you look at the big picture, if it’s going to help us win, we’ve got to do it.”
Colorado was 3-9 last season and entered the 2026 season with higher expectations. Colorado dropped to 2-1 on the season with the loss to Northwestern on Saturday night.
