Deion Sanders made clear where the Colorado Buffaloes’ biggest problem lies after the team suffered their third consecutive loss on Saturday.
Colorado fell 29-7 to No. 12 Texas Tech at Folsom Field, dropping to 2-3 after an afternoon in which the Buffaloes committed four turnovers and failed to score after their opening possession.
Speaking after the game, Sanders didn’t hide anything and pointed directly toward the quarterback position as the Buffaloes’ No. 1 issue this season.
“We got one glaring problem,” Sanders said. “Let’s stop the shenanigans, man. We got one glaring problem. You guys know darn well what that is. Let’s stop the foolishness. We’ve got to play better at one specific position. That’s it.”
Isaac Wilson made his first Colorado start at quarterback after replacing Julian Lewis, but the Utah transfer threw three second-half interceptions. Wilson finished 26-of-44 for 290 yards and one touchdown, while one interception became a rare 0-yard pick-six by Texas Tech linebacker John Curry.
Sanders later made the quarterback issue even clearer while discussing the competition.
“Every darn day is an open competition,” Sanders said. “That’s the position that is somewhat disabling us and disarming us.”

Colorado has struggled to generate offense throughout its three-game losing streak. The Buffaloes have scored 27 total points during that stretch, including seven against Northwestern, 13 against Baylor and seven against Texas Tech.
“We’ve been horrible,” Sanders said. “Yeah, don’t sugarcoat it.”

The Buffaloes are entering their bye week with Sanders having quite a challenge to solve at quarterback with the competition unresolved and an unknown starter come Week 7, when Colorado will host No. 13 Utah.
