No coach has gotten as much out of CB/WR Travis Hunter as Deion Sanders did during their four years in college together. But as Hunter heads into his second season with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Sanders has some advice for how the Jaguars can use him.
Speaking to D.J. Saddiqi of Covers.com, Sanders offered the Jaguars some unsolicited advice. He declared that Hunter won the Heisman Trophy playing on both sides of the ball, and seemed to hint that the Jaguars should use him in the same way.
“They’re not going to ask me,” Sanders said. “I thank God that you’re asking me. The kid won the Heisman Trophy playing both sides of the ball. That’s all I’ve got to say on that.”
But that wasn't "all" Sanders had to say about that. Later in the conversation, he stated that there's simply "no comparison" to Hunter when it comes to what he can do.
“There’s no comparison to what he’s able to produce on the field,” Sanders said. “It’s no comparison. I can’t say who I would compare him to, because I would be lessening that person. That’s not fair to him or the persons that I’m comparing it to. He’s different, man.”

A Struggle in 2025
The Jacksonville Jaguars moved heaven and earth to trade up with the Cleveland Browns and select Travis Hunter with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. But injuries limited Hunter to just seven games as a rookie and he didn't do too much in the games that he did manage to play.
Much like Sanders, Jaguars head coach Liam Coen used him on both sides of the ball. Unlike Sanders, Coen didn't get otherworldly production.
On defense, Hunter finished the year with three passes defended and 15 tackles. As a receiver, he had 28 receptions for 298 yards and one touchdown.
Much like the Browns, the Jaguars seemed to find no interest in speaking to Sanders and picking his brain over how to get the most out of a player they invested so much capital into. If Hunter has another disappointing season, perhaps they'll reconsider that approach.
