Deion Sanders Admits That He Wasn't Himself During Disappointing 2025 Season

Colorado was one of the more disappointing teams in college football during the 2025 season.

The Buffaloes had difficulty replacing Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter, ultimately going 3-9 on the season, including 1-8 in conference. But Colorado is hoping to bounce back in a major way in 2026.

Deion Sanders has admitted that he wasn't really himself during the 2025 season. Coach Prime was dealing with health issues, including a bladder cancer diagnosis. This came after Sanders dealt with a leg infection that nearly caused an amputation.

Sanders, though, believes that he's back to 100 percent.

The Colorado Buffaloes head coach said at Big 12 Media Days that he's back to feeling like himself and he's optimistic heading into the 2026 college football regular season.

Deion Sanders believes that he's back on track.

“I’m feeling darn good,” Sanders said at the Big 12 Media Day. “I had lost so much darn weight and I didn’t want anybody to know. I was going through it. I wasn’t me. I’m thankful this year that I’m me. I’m all me. I’m happy, I’m elated, I’m excited.”

Sanders believes that he has his "swagger" back just in time for the start of the season.

“I got that thang back, I got that swagger back, I got that dog back, I got that charisma back,” Sanders said, via Bruce Feldman of TheAthletic.com. “I was 15 pounds down, but I’m now ready. I’m back, baby! I cannot wait to get back on that sideline. I’m excited about this season.”

It should be a fun one for Colorado this year.
