Former ESPN anchor Linda Cohn has become a staunch defender of Caitlin Clark on social media since leaving the Worldwide Leader in Sports. She’s also been a vocal critic of others in the WNBA.
WNBA star A’ja Wilson is not playing on Team USA at the FIBA Women’s World Cup. Wilson is dealing with an injury. She wants to be healthy when the WNBA regular season resumes later this month.
Cohn isn’t completely buying it, though.
The former ESPN anchor seems to believe that Wilson could intentionally be missing the World Cup, so she doesn’t have to play with Clark. She’s not completely buying into her “injury” right now.
“Will Team USA miss Aja Wilson?? Or will Wilson regret not playing thru her ‘health reasons’ to help Caitlin Clark and company. 🇺🇸,” she said.
Fans of Wilson didn’t appreciate it.
“Please keep A’ja Wilson’s name out of your mouth!” one fan wrote.
“Nobody is asking anything lol,” one fan added.
“You’re on something! Her health is way more important than some basketball with your savior! Make it make sense!!!” one fan added.
“This is ridiculous, Linda,” one fan shared.
Wilson’s former college basketball coach, Dawn Staley, was among those calling out Cohn on social media, too. The South Carolina Gamecocks women’s basketball coach did not hold back on Cohn on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Staley calls out Cohn on social media
Staley quickly took to social media to rip Cohn for her take on what she said about A’ja Wilson.
“Linda please!” she shared.
Staley was blunt and to the point, making it clear that she had no interest in playing into Cohn’s conspiracy theories about what happened with Wilson and Team USA.
Team USA’s run at the FIBA Women’s World Cup will continue heading into next week.
