Blake Snell is set to make his return to the mound Saturday when the Los Angeles Dodgers face the San Francisco Giants.
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts confirmed the left-hander will make the start after Snell exited his Sept. 16 outing against the Cincinnati Reds with left groin tightness.
Snell threw just one scoreless inning on 19 pitches in that appearance before leaving as a precaution. Roberts later said an MRI showed no structural damage, allowing the Dodgers to move forward with his return.
The Dodgers will have Snell back on the mound with the regular season nearing its conclusion. His next start should give the club another opportunity to evaluate his workload before the postseason.
Snell has made eight starts in 2026, going 4-1 with a 1.86 ERA, a 1.09 WHIP and 52 strikeouts across 38.2 innings. He returned to the Dodgers on Aug. 12 after missing time earlier in the season.
Snell’s season was delayed by left shoulder fatigue before he eventually made his debut May 9. After one start, he was sidelined again and underwent arthroscopic surgery to remove loose bodies from his left elbow.
His recent return had been encouraging before the groin issue. The Dodgers are now giving him another opportunity to build back toward his regular workload before October.

Los Angeles enters Wednesday at 97-60 and has already clinched the NL West. With the division secured, the Dodgers can use their remaining games to manage their pitchers and determine how their rotation will look when the postseason begins.
For Snell, Saturday’s start will provide another test after the latest injury scare and another chance to establish himself as the regular season winds down.
