The Los Angeles Dodgers are facing another rotation question after Emmet Sheehan struggled in Sunday's loss to the Boston Red Sox. Manager Dave Roberts acknowledged the right-hander's recent performances but said the club is not required to make an immediate roster move.
The defeat completed a three-game sweep by Boston, though the Dodgers remain in a strong position atop the National League West with a 69-43 record entering Monday, 10 games ahead of the Arizona Diamondbacks.
The latest outing has placed added attention on Sheehan's place in the rotation as Los Angeles prepares for the final two months of the regular season.
Sheehan has gone 4-8 with a 5.29 ERA through 20 starts this season. Over 95.1 innings, the 26-year-old has allowed 93 hits and 20 home runs while posting a 1.29 WHIP with 108 strikeouts.
His latest start proved to be his shortest of the season. Facing the Red Sox on Sunday, Sheehan was charged with five earned runs on six hits, including three home runs, before exiting after just 2.2 innings.
Roberts acknowledged after the game that the organization will continue evaluating the situation but indicated there is no urgency to make a decision before the club's next game.

Sheehan has remained healthy throughout the 2026 season, making all 20 of his appearances as a starter. The Dodgers have continued to rely on him despite an inconsistent campaign that has featured flashes of his strikeout ability alongside difficulty limiting hard contact.
With Los Angeles still comfortably leading the NL West, the club has time to determine its next step. Whether Sheehan remains in the rotation or another option emerges, Roberts' postgame comments highlighted that the organization is evaluating its pitching staff as the postseason race enters its final stretch.
