Dave Portnoy’s rivalry with Ohio State head coach Ryan Day has taken yet another turn.
On Friday, Andrew Marchand of The Athletic reported that Portnoy will no longer appear on FOX’s “Big Noon Kickoff.” Before people could even speculate as to what happened, Portnoy shared his side to the story.
Portnoy, the founder of Barstool Sports, said Ohio State’s coach threatened FOX and asked for Portnoy to be removed.
“Ohio State and Ryan Day [expletive] and moaned to the Big 10 and threatened Fox till they had no choice,” Portnoy posted on social media. “Juice wasn’t worth the squeeze and frankly I don’t blame them. Huge dollars at stake and you have Cryin Ryan throwing temper tantrums and making threats. Every few days on something I said. I always knew Ryan Day was soft but holy [expletive] even I didn’t realize he was this soft.”
Day then said Barstool Sports isn’t done covering college football. However, it’s unclear what he’s got in store for everyone.
“The Barstool College Football will continue on. Maybe we’ll even see you in Columbus where contrary to popular belief most fans love the rivalry and aren’t [expletive] like Cryin Ryan.”

Ryan Day vs. Dave Portnoy.
Portnoy was added to “Big Noon Kickoff” in 2025. Unsurprisingly, he wasted no time calling out Day and Ohio State.
“These people can boo me all they want,” Portnoy said. “What happens if you lose to Michigan again this year. [Ryan Day] could be out. There’s a reason I’m not allowed in The Shoe today. Because he’s soft and Michigan has broken him.”
Portnoy has taken enough jabs at Day over the years that apparently Ohio State’s head coach has reached his breaking point.
As of this moment, Ohio State hasn’t addressed the latest claims involving its head coach. We’ll see if Day confirms or denies the rumors in the coming days.
