No. 2 Oregon survived a serious Week 1 scare from Boise State on Saturday, earning a close 34-27 victory behind quarterback Dante Moore’s career-high 378 passing yards and three touchdowns.
According to The Athletic’s Ira Gorawara, Moore revealed afterward that the Ducks noticed Boise State players dancing to Oregon’s “Shout” tradition between the third and fourth quarters with the game tied at 24.
“It was funny that they did the Shout,” Moore said. “It was a little weird.”
Added Moore: “When we (saw) that, it was like, ‘Hey, you can’t do that in our home.’ So we made sure that we go out here and capitalize and finish drives and put some points on the board.”
“Shout” is played at Autzen Stadium between the third and fourth quarters as a tribute to “National Lampoon’s Animal House,” which was filmed around Oregon’s campus.
Per Boise State head coach Spencer Danielson, the Broncos had actually prepared for the moment during fall camp and joined the crowd in dancing to the song.
Moore immediately recognized the Broncos’ strategy because Oregon had previously done something similar to Wisconsin. The Ducks danced to the Badgers’ “Jump Around” while trailing at Camp Randall Stadium in 2024 before rallying for a 16-13 victory.
“Actually, they were just doing something that we’ve done before, and that’s just trying to flip your mind when you find a way to try to steal the juice from the crowd,” Moore said.

Although Boise State tied the game at 27 with 8:45 remaining, Oregon needed only 54 seconds to respond. Moore connected with Dakorien Moore for a 62-yard touchdown, gave Oregon the lead, and never looked back.
The Ducks quarterback completed 28 of 37 passes for 378 yards and three touchdowns as Oregon overcame an early 10-point deficit.
Oregon now travels to face Oklahoma State on Saturday, Sept. 12 at noon ET.
