College football analyst Danny Kanell has released a new Top 12 rankings following the Week 1 games.
Week 1 was highlighted by Michigan’s controversial win over Western Michigan, Oregon’s close win over Boise State, Ole Miss’s impressive win over Louisville, LSU’s dominance of Clemson and more.
Following the Week 1 games, Danny Kanell, formerly of ESPN, has released his new Top 12 rankings. And they are controversial.
“I don’t care what you were ranked before the weekend. Or the preseason. Who has been the best on the field. Against the best. Pure and simple,” he shared.

College football fans react to his Top 12 rankings
They’re out there, to say the least.
“This list makes 0 sense. You play who is on your schedule. It determined if it was just a practice game or against a legitimate opponent,” one fan wrote.
“Clemson almost got Dabo fired last season. Not sure why they are being viewed as the hardest game. Wisconsin or Boise state and even central Michigan (last season mac champions) seemed liked better coached teams,” one fan added.
“Danny, you must admit USC has played two bad football teams and not that impressively,” one fan added.
“So apparently playing Fresno State and San Jose State is playing the best now. What are we even doing?” one fan added.
“Appreciate this sentiment but problem is you end up tying yourself in knots for a couple weeks about the quality of some of these teams using maybe a dozen competitive games as a sample size. But again, I get the vision,” Ralph D. Russo shared.
The official new Top 25 polls, from the AP and the Coaches’ Poll, will be out on Tuesday morning.
