Indianapolis Colts quarterback Daniel Jones has had a career of ups and downs in the NFL. Through seven years in the league, Jones has a completion percentage of 64.7%, throwing for 17,683 yards and 89 touchdowns with 55 interceptions in 83 games.

After a wonderful three-year collegiate career with the Duke Blue Devils, Jones was selected with the sixth overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft by the New York Giants. He spent the first six years of his career with New York, totaling a record of 24-44-1 in 69 starts.

His time with the Giants came to a close after the 2024 season, as he became a free agent and signed a one-year, $14 million contract with the Colts for 2025.

In 2025 with the Colts, Jones seemed to reinvigorate his career, as Indianapolis was a stellar 8-2 through its first 10 games of the season. However, after playing through a broken fibula for a few weeks, Jones suffered a torn right Achilles tendon on Dec. 7 against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

While this injury put an end to his season, Jones still had a successful year. He completed a career-high 68.0% of his passes for 3,101 yards and 19 touchdowns with eight interceptions in 13 games.

With his contract with the Colts being just a one-year deal, Jones is set to become a free agent this offseason, but there have been talks of an extension between the two sides. On Monday, one day before the franchise tag deadline, ESPN reporter Adam Schefter spoke on where things stand with Jones and Indianapolis.

"I'm told it's 50/50 that the Colts will be able to get a deal done with Daniel Jones by the deadline tomorrow," Schefter said on "The Pat McAfee Show." "They either get a deal done with him or I think the transition tag is in play here."

If the two sides aren't able to come to a long-term agreement, and a transition tag is placed on Jones, this would allow other teams to offer him a contract, but the Colts would have the ability to match any offer.

The NFL's franchise tag window closes on Tuesday at 4 p.m. ET.
