UFC 329 in Las Vegas marks the return of MMA icon Conor McGregor after a five-year absence. The event is so big that UFC President Dana White had a rather boast about how big it is.
During a UFC pre-fight show, White claimed that a soccer team owner told him that they couldn't find a hotel room "anywhere in the city" of Las Vegas and that there wasn't a single room available. He said he expects the numbers would exceed last month's event at the White House.
"One of the owners of a soccer team is in town, and he and his wife said, 'You know what? Let's go to the fight.' They couldn't find a hotel room anywhere in the city. There isn't a single hotel room available. Coming off the White House event, it's looking like the social media numbers will surpass the White House event, which is insane," White said.
Stretching the Truth a Bit?
MMA fans found White's claim about there being no hotel rooms in Las Vegas (of all places) totally absurd and called him out on it. Many posted screenshots of hotel room availability for tonight and found that there were plenty of rooms available all across the Las Vegas Strip.
"Love Dana and Conor, but this ain’t true," one user replied, sharing a screenshot.
"Just making up (expletive) now. There’s rooms available all over for tonight," wrote another.
"Took me 15 seconds to find a hotel room," a third wrote.

"A simple Expedia search proves this is a lie."
"Sir I went online and every hotel I checked has rooms."
"Lol I found a ton. They have done a horrible job trying to promote this fight. I think they thought the fight would promote itself. They probably have no marketing money following the WH event lol"
Maybe White misunderstood what the "soccer owner" was saying and that they either couldn't find a room they could afford or a specific type of room.
Regardless, it's a rather bizarre thing to say when it's so easily refuted by a simple Google search or dozens of hotel booking apps.
