Seattle Mariners manager Dan Wilson addressed the speculation surrounding his future with the club as his team prepares to finish a disappointing 2026 season.
Wilson spoke Thursday night with Seattle already eliminated from postseason contention. Rather than look ahead to the offseason, he said his attention remains on finishing the final four games as strongly as possible.
“Obviously, tons of speculation, all that kind of stuff,” Wilson said, via MLB.com’s Daniel Kramer. “Just trying to get through these next four days and push hard, finish up as strongly as we can and find some positives here at the end.”
Wilson added that the organization will address what comes next when the season ends. “Then, we take things as they come,” he said.
The uncertainty comes after a significant step backward for Seattle. The Mariners entered 2026 coming off a 90-72 season that ended with an AL West title and an appearance in Game 7 of the AL Championship Series. They have since been guaranteed their first full losing season since 2019.
Seattle sits at 74-84 entering the final weekend, four games behind the Houston Astros and Texas Rangers in the AL West.
Wilson took over as Seattle’s full-time manager in August 2024 after the club dismissed Scott Servais. He helped the Mariners close that season with a 21-13 record before guiding them through their division-winning 2025 campaign.

The 2026 season has produced a much different finish. Seattle has spent the final weeks evaluating younger players while its postseason hopes faded, including top prospect Kade Anderson, who made his MLB debut in August.
For now, Wilson is keeping his focus on the games still remaining. What happens after Sunday’s finale will determine the next chapter of his tenure in Seattle.
