The Cleveland Browns have settled their quarterback situation heading into the 2026 regular season. Deshaun Watson has been named the starter for Week 1 at Jacksonville, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, closing out a competition that stretched through the summer against Shedeur Sanders.
Watson’s stint in Cleveland has been difficult since he signed his $230 million contract, a stretch that has included a suspension, a season-ending shoulder injury, a torn Achilles and another Achilles issue that kept him out for the entirety of last season.
Across 19 games with the Browns, he has thrown for just 19 touchdowns. That history was on display Saturday at Huntington Bank Field, where Watson played in front of the home crowd for the first time since 2024.
