ESPN analyst Dan Orlovsky has lost patience with college football fans and media members who are constantly trying to “dunk” on North Carolina coach Bill Belichick.
While on “First Take” this Tuesday, ESPN personality Paul Finebaum predicted that Belichick won’t make it through his second season at North Carolina. He claims there’s “mass chaos” in Chapel Hill that’ll lead to the veteran coach’s exit.
“I’m not pulling for Bill Belichick. He’s a grouch. He’s a bully, and his career in college is about to go down in flames,” Finebaum said, via On3. “It is mass chaos in Chapel Hill, and I don’t believe they’ll win this game in Ireland, and I don’t think Bill Belichick is going to survive until the end of the season.”
On Thursday’s episode of “Get Up,” Orlovsky fired back at Belichick’s critics. He claims the three-time NFL Coach of the Year will figure things out and get the Tar Heels moving in the right direction.
“Can everyone pump the brakes on trying to dunk on Coach Belichick. We’re talking about one of the greatest football coaches of all time,” Orlovsky said. “Everybody that talks about Bobby Petrino raves about him as an offensive mind. We don’t think that those two guys are going to make it a little bit better? The distractions for the most part this offseason have been gone in comparison to last year at North Carolina. The conversation of the girlfriend and the noise it brought has been gone this offseason. If we watched North Carolina last year, a lot of their flaws were fundamental things – tackling, effort to the football, blocking through the whistle. I think the greatest coach of all time is going to fix a lot of stuff.”

Will Bill Belichick turn things around this fall?
Belichick finished his first year at North Carolina with a 4-8 record. His offense struggled mightily, averaging just 19.2 points per game.
Now that Belichick has a year under his belt, he’s confident North Carolina will play much better on both sides of the football.
“Overall as a football team, our culture, our program, our ability to operate as a team is much higher than it was a year ago, and our talent level is higher,” Belichick told ESPN back in July.
North Carolina will face TCU this Saturday at 12 p.m. ET. A win would certainly silence some of Belichick’s critics.
