Former Detroit Lions quarterback and ESPN analyst Dan Orlovsky had devastating news to share with the NFL community this Thursday.
Orlovsky, 43, revealed that his brother-in-law Fed has passed away unexpectedly. He shared a link to a GoFundMe account for his sister and her three children. Over $42,000 has already been raised in under 12 hours.
“This weekend, our family experienced an unimaginable tragedy. My brother-in-law, Fed, passed away unexpectedly, leaving behind my sister and their three amazing boys. There are no words to describe the heartbreak of losing a husband, a partner, and a father so suddenly. In the midst of trying to process this devastating loss, my sister is now facing the overwhelming reality of navigating life as a solo parent and a single-income household, all while helping her boys cope with the loss of their dad. No family should have to face this kind of heartbreak, and no one should have to worry about how they will manage financially while trying to put the pieces of their lives back together,” Orlovsky wrote on X.
“We are asking for your help in supporting my sister and her boys during this incredibly painful and uncertain time. Any donation, no matter the amount, will help ease some of the financial burden and allow them the time and space they need to grieve, heal, and begin navigating this new reality. If you are unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser and keeping our family in your thoughts means more than you know. Thank you for showing up for my sister and my nephews when they need it most. Our family is heartbroken, but we are so grateful for the love and support surrounding them during this unimaginable time.”

Prayers pouring in for Orlovsky.
Immediately after this tragic news was shared online, countless media members and former players offered their prayers to Orlovsky and his loved ones.
“Terrible story here…this is an opportunity for our people to step up and help if you’re able,” ESPN’s Josh Pate said.
“So incredibly sorry for your family, Dan. Hope people will support your sister and her sons and lift your entire family in prayer as you grieve this unfathomable loss,” NFL reporter Ed Werder wrote.
“Sorry for your family’s loss Dan,” former NFL quarterback Brian Hoyer commented.
“I feel like ESPN should be covering this. My condolences to him and his family. Yes I might have issues with how he reports things but I hate that he has gone through this, and I’m shocked that he needs a go fund me. I hope they raise what is necessary,” one fan wrote.
Our thoughts are with Orlovsky’s family during this difficult time.
