The City of Beverly Hills has admitted that it acted on incorrect information when it shut down an event hosted by Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown. The event, which Brown said was meant to uplift the “future of the culture,” was shut down by police just as it was starting. Officers insisted that the hosts did not have a permit to hold the gathering.

A police officer, who was recorded and later posted by Brown on his Instagram account, claimed that the residence's owner had not been granted a permit due to previous violations at the address.

When Brown pressed the officer for more information, the officer responded only that “it’s above my pay grade.”

The City of Beverly Hills is now backtracking on its previous assessment of the situation and has issued a public apology to the five-time All-Star. Officials admitted that they made an inaccurate statement regarding the matter.

The statement from the city government reads:

“Upon further internal review, the City has determined that its prior public communication contained inaccurate information. Specifically, no permit application was submitted nor denied for the event and the residence does not have any prior related violations on record. The City takes full accountability for the internal error that resulted in the inaccurate statement being distributed and is working to ensure it does not happen again."

Brown, who has been very vocal about his disappointment with Beverly Hills authorities, accepted the apology, but it appears the saga may not end there. He reiterated his anger over the canceled event, the financial loss, and the embarrassment he had to endure because of the city’s actions.

JB followed up his X post with a full statement detailing the process of canceling his event and how his camp was denied dialogue and assistance by the local officers. He also highlighted that his company, Jaylen Brown Enterprises Inc., always abides by the municipality's rules when holding an event.

"We remain open to a constructive resolution with City of Beverly Hills," he wrote.
