Azzi Fudd has quickly become an important part of the Dallas Wings during her first season. The rookie guard has already shown why the Wings selected her first in the 2026 WNBA Draft, including a career high 26-point performance against the Seattle Storm and a victory in the WNBA 3-Point Contest during All-Star weekend.
Fudd is averaging 13.7 points this season and has also been available for almost the entire season, missing only one game entering Friday.
The Wings are hoping to improve to 20 wins at home against the Golden State Valkyries. Dallas enters the matchup sitting fifth in the WNBA, while the Valkyries arrive at 21-9, the league’s third-best record.

However, fans hoping to see Fudd in action were dealt a disappointing update. The Wings announced before tip off that Fudd is out against Golden State after experiencing right knee soreness during warmups.
She had gone through the team’s pregame routine but was ruled out as a precaution, and her status for Sunday’s road game against the Minnesota Lynx will be determined before that contest.
Fudd’s absence comes during a demanding stretch for Dallas. The Wings are playing six games in 12 days, with Sunday’s meeting against Minnesota marking the end of that stretch. The team is aiming to manage Fudd carefully while monitoring whether the knee soreness improves.
The injury is a huge blow for a Wings team that has managed just two wins in their last six games. Fudd is one of Dallas’ most important players off the bench and her absence will be felt as the Wings prepare to face two top-three teams within three days.
Fudd helped the UConn Huskies win the 2025 NCAA championship alongside Paige Bueckers, and she has continued to show her scoring and shooting ability in her first WNBA season.
