Cristiano Ronaldo‘s sister has spoken on the soccer star’s future with the Portugal national team after his shocking exit during the UEFA Nations League.
Following the controversial rift between Ronaldo and head coach Jorge Jesus, reports and interviews from the coach and Bruno Fernandes suggested that the 41-year-old could return to the team for a much deserved farewell match.
Immediately after the incident, Ronaldo’s sister Elma Aveiro had criticized the team for disrespecting her brother despite his contributions for Portugal.
Her remarks and Ronaldo’s massive statement that he released on social media only left fans wondering about his international future.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal Future Uncertain
In a report by CNN Portugal, the Al Nassr star’s sister gave an update on Ronaldo’s future with Portugal.
When asked about his return to the team, Elma Aveiro explained that it was complicated because of the manner in which Ronaldo was treated.
“I don’t know. It’s very complicated,” she said.

She added that the chances of him not returning were higher than him making a comeback to the national team.
“I believe it’s more likely that he won’t than that he will.”
Regarding Ronaldo’s relationship with Jorge Jesus and the possibility of a reconciliation with the head coach, she claimed it was going to be complicated because of the way Ronaldo felt.
“When we are betrayed, returning to normal is complicated. I think it was a betrayal.”
The former Real Madrid star is currently provisionally suspended by the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) while a disciplinary investigation takes place.
Despite the disciplinary case, FPF President Pedro Proença has publicly expressed his desire for Ronaldo to return to the squad.
The 41-year-old has since returned to Al Nassr and recently scored his 981st career goal in an Asian Champions League Elite match against Neftchi Fergana.
