Cris Collinsworth will be on the call of Super Bowl 60.

The NBC Sports announcer will be on the call of the game between the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks. Collinsworth will be on the call of the game with play-by-play man Mike Tirico and sideline reporters Melissa Stark and Kaylee Hartung.

Collinsworth is used to calling big games, though this year, his beloved Kansas City Chiefs will not be playing. The Chiefs failed to reach the playoffs this year. Kansas City lost star quarterback Patrick Mahomes to a season-ending injury. The Chiefs, who lost to the Eagles in Super Bowl 59, have won three championships in the Andy Reid era.

NFL fans often joke that Collinsworth will force Mahomes' name into any conversation, any broadcast, etc.

But with the Chiefs not playing on Sunday night - not even making the playoffs - will Mahomes still get mentioned?

NFL fans are in for a treat - or an annoyance - based on Collinsworth's pregame admission

Collinsworth was asked before Super Bowl 60 if he'll bring up Mahomes' name during the broadcast.

He admitted what fans suspect - yes, he will.

“I probably will say Patrick Mahomes’ name and I have no idea why,” Collinsworth joked. “But now that you’ve planted it in my head I assume you bet the over so you’re trying to get me to do that. I have no idea or no plans of what I’m going to do but I’ve read those things. You can’t help but, right? People put them in front of your face all the time.”

It's no surprise, of course.

Kickoff at Super Bowl 60 is set for 6 p.m. E.T. on Sunday night. The game will air on NBC.
