The Dallas Cowboys opened up minicamp on Tuesday without star QB Dak Prescott under center. But while he is injured, his head coach isn't too concerned.
Speaking to the media, Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer announced that Dak would be limited in team drills due to a "sore knee." But he added that he doesn't believe it's anything worth getting worried about.
"Brian Schottenheimer said Dak Prescott will be limited in team drills because of a sore knee. He said it’s nothing to be concerned about," ESPN's Todd Archer wrote on X.
Other players limited in practice for the Cowboys include starting safety Malik Hooker and safety Jalen Thompson.
Wide receiver George Pickens is being held out of team work.
Dak In 2026
2025 was an up-and-down season for the Cowboys, and for Dak in particular. He played in all 17 games while leading the league in completions but went 7-9-1 due in no small part to a defense that was historically bad for the team.
Dak finished the year with 4,552 passing yards and 30 touchdowns with 10 interceptions.

As you might expect, Cowboys fans are already worrying:
"That every other year Dak curse in full affect," one fan lamented on X.
"Please tell me this is just him not pushing himself physically fully at minicamp and not actually an injury issue," wrote another.
"Just throw the season away," a third wrote.
"I really hope it’s minor, but man if Dak misses extensive time once again in 2026, the #Cowboys really need to invest in his successor."
"Looks like the season over before it even began."
There's an understandable amount of doom and gloom for Cowboys fans. The Cowboys are coming off back-to-back losing seasons for the first time since the early-2000s.
Tolerance for missing the playoffs for a third year in a row will be non-existent.
