While the Dallas Cowboys went just 7-9-1 and missed the playoffs in 2025, the offense was among the best in the NFL. Dallas finished the season ranked second in total yards per game (391.9) and seventh in points per game (27.7).

The emergence of running back Javonte Williams was a key piece to the unit's success. He started 16 games, racking up 1,201 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns on 252 carries. He also had 35 receptions for 137 yards and two touchdowns.

He finished the season with a Pro Football Focus overall grade of 75.3, which ranked 20th out of 55 qualified running backs. However, his time in Dallas may soon be coming to an end.

He played under a one-year contract in 2025, and with no extension in place, he is set to enter free agency on March 11. Fox Sports' Greg Auman predicts Williams will sign with the Arizona Cardinals.

"He went to Dallas on a one-year, $3 million deal, but could get double that this time around, with good pass-catching abilities, averaging 38 receptions per season," Auman wrote. "Dallas is well over the cap, so it may have a fourth leading rusher in four seasons in 2026."

The running back's market value projects him earning a three-year, $22 million deal, per Spotrac. With Dallas sitting at $31.5 million over the cap, Williams isn't even viewed as the Cowboys' top priority this offseason. Wide receiver George Pickens also facing an expiring contract.

On the other hand, the Cardinals could easily afford Williams with the $34.8 million in available cap space. After going 3-14 and finishing 31st in rushing yards per game (93.1), Arizona is looking to boost its rushing attack.
