While Baltimore Ravens fans were outraged by a defensive pass interference penalty late in the win over the Dallas Cowboys, fans of America’s Team were more than bothered by a few blown calls, too.
There was a questionable pass interference penalty on DaRon Bland early in the game. There was a tough fumble call on tight end Jake Ferguson.
But, perhaps most importantly, there was what appeared to be a “blown” holding call on a big third down conversion by the Cowboys.
Cowboys fans believe that the refs got it wrong, via the rulebook.
“Rule 12, Section 1, Article 3, Note 1.i), offensive holding will not be called if a defensive player uses a ‘rip’ technique that forces the blocker into a position that otherwise looks like a hold. Not sure how this is a hold when he rips. Killer call.”
NFL fans rip referees for ‘blown’ call
“Just another brutal call. This has been in the NFL for years now and it took away a huge conversion,” one fan wrote.
“I said this during the live stream in the game. Rips NEVER get called for holding. We saw it 8,000 times with Micah’s rip technique. It is not a penalty. But it was last night,” one fan added.
“This like 5 callas that shouldn’t have been called against them yesterday,” one fan added.
“Man watched the catch completion and pitched the flag immediately. QuickDraw,” one fan added.
“Yet another missed/terrible call from yesterday. So 3 DPIs, a missed offside on blocked FG, and this. Honestly, Cowboys should just compile video of all of those and petition the loss as a NC,” one fan added.
The Cowboys will look to turn the page in Week 4, taking on the Texans on the road in Houston.
Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. E.T. on Sunday.
