The Dallas Cowboys entered the 2026 NFL season with high expectations, especially on the offensive side of the ball. However, despite elite offensive personnel, the team has been largely disappointing. Entering Week 7’s matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles, the Cowboys have a 2-4 record and have lost back-to-back games.
Last week against the Green Bay Packers, the Cowboys’ offense scored just two touchdowns in a 23-13 loss at Lambeau Field. The Cowboys were second in the NFL in 2025 in total yards per game, but have struggled to find consistency while falling to 13th through the first six games of the 2026 season.

While the Cowboys have not met expectations, wide receiver George Pickens has remained one of the team’s most productive weapons in his second season in Dallas. Through Week 6, Pickens has caught 33 passes for 428 yards and a touchdown.
His pace does not quite match the production of last year’s 1,429-yard campaign, but Pickens has still been a highly important player for Dak Prescott and the rest of the Cowboys’ offense.
With Dallas sitting at 2-4 and Pickens still carrying significant value, his future with the team has become increasingly relevant as the Nov. 10 trade deadline approaches.
According to Judy Battista of NFL.com, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones made it clear that Dallas is keeping its options open ahead of the deadline. Jones said the Cowboys could be buyers as they look to improve a disappointing 2-4 start. At the same time, he “does not rule out being a seller at the deadline if a blockbuster offer like they got for Micah Parsons last year came along.”
Jones’s comments do not mean the Cowboys are actively shopping any of their players, including Pickens, but they do leave the door open for a move if the right offer arrives.
Pickens is playing the 2026 season on the franchise tag after the Cowboys refused to negotiate a long-term extension, with the team intentionally letting the July 15 deadline pass.
For now, that leaves his future in Dallas uncertain beyond this season and gives the Cowboys another decision to weigh if a significant offer arrives before the trade deadline.
