George Pickens, Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb have picked up where they left off for the Dallas Cowboys in training camp, following strong performances during the 2025 NFL season. The dynamic trio helped the Cowboys rack up 471 points in the 2025 NFL season, finishing seventh overall in scoring offense.
The offense was never the problem for Jerry Jones' Cowboys; it was always the defense. The defensive issues became a major reason behind the Cowboys missing the playoffs for the second consecutive season, which prompted a bunch of changes, including the decision to part ways with Matt Eberflus and hire Christian Parker as the new defensive coordinator.

And Jerry Jones continues to make key decisions. The latest was the decision to give Quinnen Williams a three-year, $105.9 million contract extension through 2030. The deal includes $101 million guaranteed, a signing bonus of $31.85 million and an average annual salary of $35.3 million.
While Williams got his much-deserved extension, George Pickens, who is playing the 2026 season under the franchise tag, still does not have a long-term deal. The big question is whether Cowboys will be able to retain him after the 2026 season, especially after breaking the bank for Williams.
Cowboys' EVP Stephen Jones believes it's realistic. Addressing the situation, Jones said, “Yeah, just you got to tell me the rest [of our spending], too. At some point, you’ve got to figure that out. But no, I think it's realistic."
Talking about George Pickens and CeeDee Lamb, he added, “I’d say the two of them did pretty damn good. Would you take that again? Hell, yeah, you would. But can they be better? I think they can. And the good news is it’s not like we’re naked without them.”
Cowboys have their three preseason games coming up against the Seattle Seahawks, the Arizona Cardinals and the New Orleans Saints in August. However, George Pickens is expected to get little to no playing time in these games.
