Minnesota Lynx guard Courtney Williams and Indiana Fever playmaker Caitlin Clark have developed a close friendship over the past couple of years. In fact, during the 2026 WNBA All-Star weekend, they went viral after Clark gave Williams and Natisha Hiedeman (aka the StudBudz) her signature shoes, the Caitlin 1s.
Williams received the purple Caitlin 1s, while Hiedeman got the Blue Racer colorway. The Lynx star reacted with excitement, thanking the Fever guard and calling her, "The President."
However, when the Fever and Lynx played against each other on Sunday, Williams didn't wear the shoes Clark had gifted her. Apparently, the Fever star also noticed this and asked the WNBA veteran why she didn't use the kicks.

Williams told Clark that she couldn't do it, especially when they were playing each other.
"She asked me why I didn't wear her shoes and I was like, 'Come on, girl. I can't wear your shoes against you."
Williams added that while they talked trash to each other before the game, it was not negative at all and that "it was all just fun and games."
Clark finished the game with 19 points and 10 assists, although she shot 2-of-9 from deep. Williams, meanwhile, recorded 27 points and five assists to help the Lynx earn a 108-100 victory.
Williams also came up clutch for the Lynx, draining a crucial jumper with 2:48 left to play to give Minnesota a 100-96 lead after Indiana had come within striking distance of tying the game. She also scored a floater with 33 seconds left to make it a five-point game and allow Minnesota to pull away for good.
