Alyssa Thomas is in hot water once again after her incident with Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark.
The Phoenix Mercury came out with a close win, 111-109, at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Wednesday. Kahleah Cooper led the way with 28 points, while Thomas chipped in 24 points and eight assists.
Kelsey Mitchell had 30 points and six assists for the Fever. Aliyah Boston contributed 23 points, nine rebounds and five assists.
Unfortunately for the home team, their star guard left the game in the third quarter due to a back injury. Clark finished with 19 points and eight assists in only 20 minutes of game time.

However, there was an incident during the game where Thomas seemingly drove her fist into Clark’s neck or throat area. No foul was called as the teams just continued playing. Another angle also showed that the Phoenix forward's knee made contact with Clark’s groin area.
Because of this recent development, a video resurfaced from last year’s WNBA playoffs series between the Mercury and the Minnesota Lynx. The clip is now making its rounds on social media again.
In the video, Lynx star Napheesa Collier injured her left ankle after colliding with Thomas’ thigh. It was a season-ending injury for the five-time All-Star, who is still currently recovering from offseason surgeries on both her ankles.
More than a few WNBA fans saw this as a dirty play from Thomas. The 13-year veteran's play on the ball also dove into Collier’s space, causing the latter to tear three ligaments in her ankle.
As for the Fever, they still haven’t found their rhythm. They currently have a 10-8 record as the midway point of the season approaches.
If Clark misses significant time, it will be a huge blow to the 2025 WNBA Commissioner’s Cup champions.
