Zach Wilson is starting over with the New Orleans Saints after signing with the Louisiana-based NFL franchise. The 26-year-old quarterback's last two seasons have been relatively mediocre for someone who was picked second overall.
He did not play at all for the Denver Broncos after moving on from the New York Jets, who drafted him in 2021. He saw field time again in 2025, playing four games for the Miami Dolphins.
The Saints believe they can still use his skills, signing him to a one-year deal. Wilson is hopeful about the opportunity, saying the team met the criteria he set for his personal growth.
“I just picked based off priorities, like finding (a coach) that had played the position, an offense that I feel comfortable with, that I could go on and play well, a great fan base, great culture, great place to live,” he said.
“That stuff was maybe more important to me than some of the other things you look at in the process of free agency.”

Wilson enters this new chapter feeling more inspired, as he also announced that he and his wife, Nicolette, are expecting their first child. It is well-documented how athletes reach new heights once they become parents.
The couple shared the news on Instagram, featuring ultrasound photos and an intimate photoshoot on the field.
"You are already so loved, baby 🤍," they wrote in the caption.
Friends, fans and family sent congratulatory messages to the couple.
Nicolette's friend and singer-songwriter is among the most excited.
"So excited for you both!! 🤍🤍🤍Ily so much Nic," she wrote on the comment.
"WOOP THERE IT IS!!!!!!!! i love yall sm 😭🥹🤍 MOM & DAD!!!!!," wrote Kennedy Stidham, wife of Wilson's former Broncos teammate Jarred Stidham.
"Yay!!!!!!! So excited!!!! You guys will be the world's best parents!!!! 🥹🥹❤️," a very happy Madison Murdock said.
"I am so so happy for you both!!! I cannot wait ❤️❤️❤️," said another.
Zach and Nic got engaged in Italy in June 2024. They got married in New York City in June last year.
