Kelsey Mitchell has built her reputation as one of the WNBA’s most dangerous scorers, but the Indiana Fever star reached a milestone Saturday that highlighted another part of her game.
Mitchell recorded the 900th assist of her WNBA career during Indiana’s road matchup against the New York Liberty at Barclays Center. The Fever quickly celebrated the accomplishment on social media, posting a graphic honoring their longtime guard.
“900 career assists for Kelsey Mitchell,” the Fever wrote, adding fire and clapping emojis.
It was another notable career achievement for a player who has spent her entire WNBA career in Indiana and has been piling up milestones throughout the 2026 season.
And Fever fans were ready to celebrate right along with her.
Kelsey Mitchell Adds Another Milestone To Her Resume
Mitchell entered the WNBA as the No. 2 overall selection in the 2018 draft after a prolific college career at Ohio State.
Scoring has always been her calling card.
Mitchell entered the 2026 season as the Fever’s all-time leader in points and 3-pointers made, and she has continued adding to those totals while playing some of the best basketball of her career. She became the first player in Fever history to surpass 5,000 career points earlier this season.
Now she has 900 assists to go with all of that scoring.
The milestone also came during a season in which Mitchell has carried a significant offensive workload for Indiana. She entered Saturday averaging better than 20 points per game and has repeatedly delivered huge scoring performances as the Fever battle near the top of the Eastern Conference.
The 900-assist mark provided a reminder that there is more to Mitchell’s offensive game than putting the ball through the basket.

Fans immediately filled social media with congratulations and reactions after Indiana announced Mitchell’s accomplishment.
“It’s awesome that she and the team can block all the noise out and keep playing basketball! 🙌🏻” one fan wrote.
Another fan pointed directly to the perception of Mitchell as primarily a scorer.
“You’d think 900 assist was impossible for someone they say is just a pure scorer,” a fan posted.
“Congratulations, Kelsey,” another wrote.
Others were enjoying Mitchell’s performance Saturday as much as the milestone itself.
“Dr Hoops is hooping tonight,” one fan wrote.

The reactions were fitting for a player who has become synonymous with Fever basketball.
Indiana has changed dramatically around Mitchell since she arrived in 2018. Rosters have been rebuilt, expectations have changed and the Fever have gone from the bottom of the standings to a team with championship aspirations.
Mitchell has been there through all of it.
Saturday gave Fever fans another reason to appreciate just how much she has accomplished along the way.
