Azzi Fudd has missed the Dallas Wings’ last five games and remains without a timetable for her return. She enjoyed a strong run before being sidelined due to a right knee injury.
A new development has now surfaced that could add to fans’ growing concern about the rookie guard. The Wings have won 63.3% of their games when Fudd suits up. However, they’ve won just 16.7% of matchups when she’s unavailable and are currently on a two-game skid.
Fudd, the No. 1 overall pick of the 2026 WNBA Draft, has missed six games this season. The Wings have a 1-5 record with their star rookie sidelined. However, they have gone 19-11 when Fudd plays.
Fudd last played on Aug. 5 against the Washington Mystics, recording nine points, three assists and three steals in the 96-92 loss. She is averaging 13.1 points built on 2.1 three-pointers, along with 1.2 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.8 steals through 30 appearances.
Dallas is barely hanging on to the eighth and final playoff spot in the standings with a 20-16 record. The silver lining is that they lead the ninth-seeded Portland Fire by 4.5 games with eight games remaining. While it may seem like a safe lead, the Wings need to get their act together and figure out how to win consistently without Fudd.
Paige Bueckers continues to carry the bulk of the offensive load. Jessica Shepard and Arike Ogunbowale have proven they can be relied upon, but the Wings will need to step up as a unit with Fudd out of the picture.
Dallas will next face the Indiana Fever on Thursday in what promises to be a highly entertaining game. It’s unclear if Fudd will be cleared to play.
