The Washington Commanders are a bit annoyed by a popular online theory involving Jayden Daniels and how his teammates view him.
Unfortunately, Daniels suffered a dislocated left elbow on the final play of the first half against the Dallas Cowboys. NFL fans accused the offensive players on the Commanders of not caring about their quarterback since FOX’s broadcast angle showed them walking off the field as Daniels was in pain.
Commanders left tackle Brandon Coleman, however, claims that couldn’t be further from the truth.
“It’s bulls— what people are saying. Jay’s our guy and he’s been our guy. There’s no malice behind it,” Coleman said, via ESPN. “We stayed on the field and once they got it situated and did what they had to do we checked on him. Dan told most [players] to go into the locker room. But it’s tough to go in when you see something like that. You see the whole starting line out there, a bunch of receivers, some defensive guys.”

Commanders tight end Ben Sinnott also voiced his frustration over the misleading video from Week 2.
“All that stuff is ridiculous,” Sinnott said. “As far as the love and brotherhood we have for Jayden, it’s really strong. We’ve seen how hard he worked to get to where he’s been. It was a weird situation, people were trying to figure out what’s going on and they wanted to give the trainers space to do it. You don’t want to crowd the guy. Obviously guys are taking a step back and giving him space, praying, and we all came back.”
It’s worth noting JP Finlay of NBC Washington shared an alternate angle that shows Commanders players gathered around their quarterback.
Uncertainty surrounding Jayden’s return to the field.
The Commanders have not yet announced a timeline for Daniels’ return to the field.
“I’m not going to assume on the timeline,” Commanders coach Dan Quinn said. “Once I know, I’ll share it with you to go. But I think just for me to say, this many weeks or not, I’d rather wait on that and let’s get all the info. But that said, I’d also say, yeah, we have a lot of confidence in what we do and what we’ve been doing. … But as far as a timeline, or what, or who else to add, we’ll wait on that.”
Marcus Mariota will fill in for Daniels during his absence. The former Oregon star appeared in 11 games last season, throwing for 1,695 yards with 10 touchdowns and seven interceptions.
The Commanders will face the Seattle Seahawks at home this Sunday.
