The Washington Commanders saw Jayden Daniels suffer a serious-looking left elbow injury in Week 2 against the Dallas Cowboys. He missed the next two weeks, but now, with Week 5 on the horizon, he has a chance to play.
But before the Commanders can send Daniels out to the field Sunday against the New York Giants, he has one requirement to meet if he wants to suit up.
According to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, all Daniels needs to do to play in Week 5 is to practice in full one day during the week. It's a simple task, but considering how things are trending, this is a "positive" update for the Commanders QB.
Jayden Daniels injury update is a 'positive' sign for Week 5
"The outlook for the Commanders' Jayden Daniels potentially playing this week against the Giants is positive," Fowler writes. "The key, I'm told, is having him in practice in full. Limited participation likely won't be enough. If he's a full go in practice by, say, Friday, he'll get the green light."
Washington is hoping to get Daniels back on the field in Week 5, especially since Marcus Mariota suffered an injury in Week 4 and is likely to miss some time.
Fortunately, it appears Daniels' path to playing this weekend is clear. All he needs to do is have one full participation at practice this week.
Even if Daniels is only a limited participant during Wednesday's practice, it won't signal he's not good to go. Plenty of players are limited for rest reasons or to manage an injury on Wednesdays.

Thursday and Friday will be the more important days for the Commanders' QB to prove he's good to go this weekend. But if he's a full participant Wednesday, the Commanders might not have to worry about who their starter is this week.
With a matchup against the Giants, the top team in the NFC East with a 3-1 record, the Commanders have a chance to get back within striking distance of the division title with a win this weekend.
While the Giants are without Jaxson Dart, Daniels might actually be back this week. As long as Daniels logs one full participation at practice this week, he'll likely play. It's a simple ask from the Commanders, and one that Daniels should be able to meet.
