While some college football fans have been eagerly anticipating someone like President Donald Trump or Tennessee football legend Peyton Manning to be the College GameDay guest picker in Week 4, ESPN decided to bring on someone who literally has Knoxville in his name.
Actor, daredevil and longtime Jackass star Johnny Knoxville has been announced as the guest picker for the big game between the Vols and the Texas Longhorns. And while Knoxville may not be his real surname and he didn’t even attend the University of Tennessee, he was born and raised in the city.
Knoxville (the person) is also, unsurprisingly, a Vols fan and a football fan. He once dressed up in a full Vols outfit for a stunt on an early episode of Jackass and has football-related stunts in almost all of his Jackass movies.
Fan’s Agree: It’s A Good Pick
While Knoxville may not be everyone’s preference (some are complaining that they wanted to see President Trump making the pick), plenty more agree that it’s an awesome choice:
“The correct choice,” one fan declared on X.
“This is fire lmaooo love it,” wrote another.
“Great choice, IMO,” a third wrote.
“I’m confused at the people who think this pick stinks. Johnny is a Knoxville native and bleeds orange. It was never going to be Peyton for this game and Wallen either always says no or they never ask. Kevin Hart has a kid at UT but probably doesn’t really care. Love the pick!”
“Let’s freaking go!!!”

Saturday’s game marks the first time since 2022 where Tennessee host the No. 1 team in the country. And the last time they did, they upset arch-rival Alabama 52-49.
That said, wins like that are a rarity. Neyland Stadium has only seen Tennessee win against the No. 1 team in the country twice in the last 12 meetings.
Perhaps Johnny Knoxville can inspire a third such upset this weekend.
