ESPN’s “College GameDay” kicks off its 40th season this Saturday in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. As you’d imagine, the network has a pretty great show lined up for its audience.
Rece Davis, Kirk Herbstreit, Desmond Howard, Pat McAfee and Nick Saban are back to cover the 2026 season on “College GameDay.” They should receive quite the ovation from the crowd as they preview the Clemson-LSU game.
This Saturday’s episode of “College GameDay” will mark its 500th show on the road, so it’s only fitting that ESPN went big-name hunting for its celebrity guest picker.

With that being said, Lainey Wilson has been selected as the Week 1 guest picker for “College GameDay.” The country singer from Louisiana can’t wait to make her predictions and perform a few songs in Baton Rouge.
“I’m coming home to Louisiana this weekend to be your ‘College GameDay’ celebrity guest picker, and I’m going to sing a few songs,” Lainey said. “I can’t wait to be on LSU’s campus cheering on my Tigers.”
Fans are torn on this selection.
“Absolutely terrible pick. All the celebrities out of that area and we choose that.. I love Gameday but damn. Most talked about game and we have that,” one fan said.
“Heck yeah!!!! Let’s go Lainey,” a second fan replied.
“YOU DID IT! You found someone more annoying than Pat McAfee,” a social mdia user wrote.
“Lainey is the best. Great guest picker to start the season,” another fan declared.
Wilson will have her chance to silence the critics this Saturday.
As always, “College GameDay” will begin at 9 a.m. ET on ESPN.
