It's safe to say that Colin Cowherd doesn't feel bad for the rest of baseball.
The Los Angeles Dodgers made a blockbuster move for Detroit Tigers ace Tarik Skubal on Saturday night. The Dodgers sent a Top 100 outfield prospect and two pitching prospects to Detroit in exchange for the Cy Young rental, who is set to hit free agency this winter.
Baseball Trade Values, a popular grading system for MLB trades, believes that the Dodgers got away with an underpay.
"Today the #Dodgers reportedly acquired LHP Tarik Skubal ($30.2M surplus trade value) from the #Tigers in exchange for OF Zyhir Hope ($22.4M) and RHPs Brady Smith ($1.5M) and River Ryan ($0.1M) ($24.0M ttl). The deal is accepted by our model as a moderate underpay by Los Angeles," they shared.
"One more point on River Ryan's valuation in our model: Despite obvious talent, he hasn't thrown 100+ innings at any level since 2023, and he will be 28 in two weeks. High injury risk and age-related reliever risk are the big red flags.'

But as baseball fans express their outrage, Colin Cowherd isn't having it.
The Fox Sports 1 host is tired of hearing people complaining about the Dodgers "ruining" the sport with all of their acquisitions.
Cowherd taunts angry MLB fans
Cowherd took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to sound off on angry and annoyed MLB fans.
"The Dodgers gave up 3 solid prospects for a three month RENTAL. And that’s the final straw? Oh, I thought it was Kyle Tucker who couldn’t hit this season until a recent heater. Or Edwin Diaz who missed the first 85 games. Lots of lines in the sand. Just trying to keep up," he shared.
That's not really the point, though.
The point is the massive spending and financial gaps between a team like the Dodgers and a team like the Pirates or Rays.
Something needs to change.
