It’s safe to say that Colin Cowherd is fully out on Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix after last night’s performance against the Seattle Seahawks.
Despite the Broncos winning to reach 4-2 on the season, Nix had yet another rough game and has now had four games this season where he’s passed for under 200 yards. Were it not for Denver’s defense keeping Sam Darnold and the Seahawks in check until the fourth quarter, that wouldn’t have been nearly enough to get the win last night.
So on Friday’s edition of The Herd, Cowherd came up with a new nickname for Nix amid his inability to get first downs: Bo “Short of the Sticks” Nix.
“The Broncos offense can be measured in inches… You may call him Bo ‘Short of the Sticks’ Nix, that’s what I’m calling him now,” Cowherd joked.
Nix vs. Expectations
Statistically, 2026 is gearing up to be the former first-round draft pick’s worst statistical season. Nix is completing 60.3-percent of his passes for 1,049 yards and six touchdowns with three interceptions through six games. He’s averaging less than 175 passing yards per game and has only gone over 220 yards once all season.
You can’t exactly blame the offensive line for Nix’s troubles either. He’s only been sacked eight times and is averaging just four rushing attempts per game.
Whether it’s an issue with playcalling, personnel, the scheme, lingering injury issues or it’s all in Nix’s head, the current rate is not sustainable.

But the Broncos are 4-2 right now in spite of Nix and so long as they keep winning, Nix will keep starting.
There are plenty of teams in NFL history that have enjoyed deep playoff runs in spite of their quarterback and not because of one. While it’s becoming increasingly rare for those teams to actually win a Super Bowl, it’s not impossible.
