Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark has the WNBA community's undivided attention, but that doesn't mean she'll offer her two cents on every hot topic.
Prior to Sunday's game against the Minnesota Lynx, there was a ton of controversy surrounding Fever guard Sophie Cunningham and comments she made to ESPN. She said she wants to "protect young girls" from competing against biological men.
When asked about transgender athletes competing in women's sports, Clark said it's on the league and its governing bodies to "to find solutions." For now, the former No. 1 pick from Iowa is just focused on winning games for the Fever.
"Our focus is on basketball," Clark said. "That's what we talk about and how we can get wins, and obviously, we didn't do that tonight. So we need to find an area to improve in that way."
While some people have criticized Clark for staying away from politics, Cowherd said she doesn't owe anyone an opinion on controversial subjects.
"Caitlin owes nobody in the media an assist for a game she didn't choose to play," Cowherd said. "Politics are divisive - it's a shark tank. I've often worried people in my industry - sports are fun, politics are awful. ... If you choose - sportscaster, athlete, or chef - to have a strong political opinion, it is up to you."

Sophie Cunningham hasn't backed down.
Reporters recently asked Cunningham about the criticism she has faced from peers and social media users. Let's just say she's not afraid of the discourse surrounding her.
“I said what I said. I think it’s kind of common sense…” Cunningham replied. “I think it’s really important to protect children… I don’t dislike anyone. … I’m there to love, but I’m also there to love biological women.”
There have been a few pro-Sophie Cunningham rallies in the WNBA community over the past week. On the flip side, some fans have started booing the veteran guard for Indiana.
If we had to guess, the controversy surrounding Cunningham won't die down anytime soon.
