“There’s a rule at WWE: no AI. We’re never doing an A.I. voice of Dusty, and here’s the backup: If we need to fill in a couple blanks, Bruce Prichard will just do it. Bruce Prichard or I’ll do it. That’s my promise, that’s my PSA. No A.I. Dusty,” Rhodes said (H/T Mythical Kitchen, transcription via Fightful).
According to Cageside Seats, the topic came up while Rhodes was discussing his father’s legacy. Dusty coached a generation of talent on promos in NXT, including Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch and Seth Rollins. Host Josh Scherer also got Cody to do a quick Dusty impression.
Fans Push Back
Fightful posted the quote on X:
The post passed 200,000 impressions, and many replies questioned Rhodes’ claim.
“Did they not use ai at his Summerslam entrance vs cena ??” one fan asked.
Another wrote, “someone show Cody some of the posters from earlier this year (and Summerslam) and ofc Gable’s theme.”
SummerSlam 2025: Was the Dusty Voice AI or Archival?
Dusty’s voice was used in Cody’s SummerSlam 2025 entrance in August 2025, per Fightful. Neither WWE nor Rhodes has said whether that audio was archival or generated. No outlet has confirmed it was AI.
Bruce Prichard as the Backup Dusty
Prichard is a longtime WWE executive. During a stretch away from the company, he hosted the podcast “Something to Wrestle,” where his impressions of wrestling personalities, Dusty among them, became popular, per Cageside Seats.
In 1992, after his run as Brother Love, Prichard also played Reo Rogers in WWE. The cowboy character imitated Rhodes, lisp included, and was quickly dropped from TV.
Where WWE’s No-AI Rule Actually Stops
Rhodes’ “no AI” line is specifically about a Dusty voice. WWE has used AI in a number of promotional videos, per Cageside Seats. Some fans have speculated that it has also been used in storylines and entrance music, though none of that has been confirmed.
