The Washington Nationals are treading even water. At 31-31, the Nationals are in third place in the National League East, 10.5 games back of the first-place Atlanta Braves. One reason the Nationals have kept up in the contested division is shortstop CJ Abrams.
The 2024 NL All-Star came to Washington as the centerpiece of the 2022 Juan Soto trade and has grown into one of the franchise's cornerstones in his fifth major league season. The nationals have been one of the season’s surprises, winning three straight series entering June behind an offense Abrams has helped lead. Under first-year manager Blake Butera and a reshaped front office, Washington has leaned on a young core anchored by Abrams.

The 25-year-old shortstop has a .293 batting average with a .387 on-base percentage with 12 home runs and 47 RBIs. Abrams places either first or second on the team in hits, runs, RBIs, home runs, walks, on-base percentage, slugging percentage and OPS.
Away from the field, Abrams is looking toward the next generation. He announced on Instagram that he is partnering again with Flex Work Management for an upcoming youth baseball camp.
Abrams said he is looking forward to "making memories while working hard" with the campers and to helping young players continue developing their skills.
For Barams, the camp doubles as community outreach during a season in which his standing in Washington has only grown. If his current place holds, the shortstop could push for a second All-Star nod while building his presence beyond the diamond.
