Christian Gonzalez Has Strong Words for A.J. Brown After Major Incident

New England Patriots cornerback Christian Gonzalez gave credit to teammate A.J. Brown for bringing out his competitiveness in training camp.

Gonzalez and Brown got into a heated exchange that nearly turned into a fight on Thursday, with the former initiating the trash-talking during a practice drill.

But the 17th pick in the 2023 NFL Draft quickly made it clear that it was nothing personal and it was just a product of their competitiveness.

“Oh for sure. I mean, it’s competition,” Gonzalez said. “That’s how you get better. That’s how he can get better, how I can get better, the defense, the team. It all comes together.”

Gonzalez also noted that it’s normal for emotions to run high as they strive to be the best version of themselves.

“It’s the dog days of camp,” Gonzalez continued. “It’s still hot… Of course tempers are gonna flare. Everybody’s hot and wants to be the best.”

New England acquired Brown from the Philadelphia Eaglesin a massive trade in exchange for two future first-round picks.

Both players are coming off a strong season, with Gonzalez earning his first Pro Bowl selection by recording 54 solo tackles and 10 pass deflections.

Meanwhile, Brown hauled in 78 passes for 1,003 yards and seven touchdowns in 2025.

New England came up short in the Super Bowl against the Seattle Seahawks last season, losing 13-29. But with the arrival of Brown, the Patriots find themselves in a position to potentially go all the way this season.
